In order for your system to salivate properly, sufficient fluid intake is necessary. Other gum disease protection measures include proper oral care, proper nutrition, and getting away to any dehydrating activities. Brushing and flossing are part of an oral care practice. Doing these things daily would remove plaque before it could be hardened as tartar. Both plaque and tartar are favorite dwelling place for mouth germs to multiply. Eating nutritious foods is crucial in all heath promotion actions. Gum disease protection is of no exception. Nutrients boost up immune system and protect our body from any disease. Any immune system lapses would increase mouth germ population. Any activity that reduces saliva production weakens our first line of defense against gum disease. These comprise taking caffeinated stuffs, alcohol, diet pills, and some medicines. Smoking and excessive exercise are also dehydrating. Avoiding any of these forms optimize saliva production, and therefore, increase our protection against gum disease.
